*profile picture of your subject
* scissors
*contact paper
*Acrylic paint for glass or ceramics (I used Folk Art Enamels)
*mirror
*exacto knife
*cutting mat
*alcohol
1. First I cut out my profile picture
2. Then I traced it onto my contact paper
3. Cut the contact paper out using my exacto
4. Next I stuck the contact paper on my mirror (smoothing it down from the center out to avoid bubbles)
5. Use alcohol to clean your mirror
6. Then use your acrylic for glass paint and paint around your contact paper (this took me around 7 coats)
7. Use your exacto blade to score around the edge of your contact paper so when you pull up your contact paper your paint stays in place
8. Pull up your contact paper (use you exacto to lift the corners)
9.Now your mirror is ready to go in the oven (Folk Art Enamels instructions say to place the mirror in a cold oven and heat to 350 degrees for 30 minutes)
AND YOU'RE DONE!
Note: be careful with your mirror; the back will scratch easily
I am now working on the one of the baby's cute little head so I can hang them on the wall together.

WOW, this is AWESOME!!! I'm so impressed and am totally going to do this someday. I'll be linking to you too! (:
ReplyDeleteThis is darling! I love it! Thanks for the great idea.
ReplyDeleteI love this. I would never be able to work an exacto knife with those results. Great job!
